Biography

As a young boy, Bert Louissen (1964) was already interested in music and listening to the radio became his favorite pastime early on. When he was six, he discovered the piano and started composing and improvising. After that, he decided he wanted to learn to play all pop instruments. Today, he also plays guitar, bass and drums.

In the early nineties Bert met his friend for life and musical genius Hans van Beek when he played in cover bands. Bert and Hans named themselves Lost Illusions and recorded two albums: ‘Dr Dream back’ (1990) and ‘Real fantasy’ (1993). Bert says about Hans: “He learned me to listen to each other while playing. His influence can still be heard in the way I play bass and guitar.”

A period of composing, singing, recording and writing of radio jingles and commercials followed, as well as participating in various projects. In 2001 Bert recorded the cover album ‘Mixed with love’, followed by ‘Liefde en de rest’ in 2007, an album he wrote the music for.

In October 2015 Bert Louissen will release the album ‘Cheerful goodbye’, for which he wrote both music and lyrics. The album was recorded and produced by Rene Kaaij of Seafront Music (The Hague, The Netherlands).

Bert says: “Over the years I have found out that working with some one can only be done if there is a match, a click, chemistry, whatever you may call it. Without it, there’s no soul, no imagination. Some one can take a song to a greater hight, where you could never take it on your own. This is what definitely occurred on my most recent album Cheerful goodbye, which Rene and I recorded and worked out together. A great piece of generosity indeed!!”
